Are you using Trigger Events to Connect with Busy and Hard to Reach People?
One of the questions I get is How to Connect with Influencers and busy people and how to add value to them.
One of the secrets is TRIGGER EVENTS.
I recently attended a conference in Vegas, so I reached out to
a chunk of my network in Vegas and hosted a meet and greet at a restaurant
in the conference hotel and connected some of my influential friends I know to each other.
For example, @LionelRichie was on the Tonight show yesterday and announced he is kicking off his concert tour so I reached out to him via e-mail and congratulated him and told him I look forward to helping him and his kids with their Cancer project. He and I are going to meet in a week.
I was watching NBC nightly news with Brian Williams and one of the stories was about a singing nurse. The nurses dream is to sing the National Anthem for the LA Dodgers, so I tweeted and e-mailed Peter Guber to alert him of the PR opportunity and how a simple act of kindness can make someone’s dreams come true.
Noah St John and @jaybaer both had successful book launches so I reached out to them and congratulated them.
Tesla announced some new technology with innovative battery swapping stations and their stock hit an all time high, so I reached out Elon Musk-CEO to congratulate him.
The CEO of Google, Larry Page-was having problem with his vocal cords. I read about this in the Wall Street Journal, so i reached out and gave him the contact of one of the countries top vocal coaches, who could help with his vocal paralysis.
I found out that Russ Whitney, a legend in the real estate investing education space, would be having a upcoming book launch so I sent him an e-mail he could use to send to his network so they would know how to better support him during his launch.
MGM has a few diversity and sustainability initiatives, so I reached out to their CEO Jim Murren and SVP of Sales to congratulate them on 2 major things that recently happened on those fronts. I also shared a product idea that a friend of mine came up with that will save the hotel tens of millions of dollars annually and support MGM with their sustainability objectives.
I was at event where there was a very influential marketer. I asked him how his wife and kids were doing. He told me he was going thru divorce and his wife was seeking sole custody. I connected him to a friend of mine who runs a network for Divorced Dad’s.
I reached out to a busy serial entrepreneur to see how he was doing. He indicated he had some health problems slowing him down.
He mentioned he had some type of blood disorder. Thus, I reached out to Jack Canfield Co-Creator of Chicken Soup For the Soul to find out the contact of a leading blood doctor in the field that Jack had mentioned to me a while back. When you help someone with their health, they always remember.
Marc Benioff, CEO of Salesforce.com partnered with his one time enemy Larry Ellison CEO Oracle and announced a monster size deal, so I sent him a card congratulating him.
A thought leader friend of mine, Chester Elton did a post on Twitter talking about his daughter Cassandra Elton (http://lnkd.in/rWtJPC ) I and her Bookmobile in Iowa City. http://lnkd.in/Uw2D9d , so I reached out to congratulate him.
Actress Sophia Bush of One Tree Hill celebrated her birthday yesterday so I reached out and wished her happy birthday.
A friend’s mother had leukemia, so I connected her with someone who already went thru what she was dealing with.
A well known thought leader and I were recently sharing a meal and he mentioned he is having all sorts of behavior issues with his adopted son who he found in the foster care system. I reached out to another friend that I knew who had used a well know Dr. and Coach to help her work thru the issues she was having with her children. I connected everyone.
Jay Abraham a well known marketing consultant mentioned he wanted to help get his son an internship in the music business, I sent a few e mails to some influential people I knew in the music business. He was incredibly appreciative.
